I feel awkward communicating with words what I usually do through my images, but I'll try my best...
Ever since i was a kid I've always wanted to be a photographer. My father gave me my first camera in High school, an old Nikon FG [the one i now have tattooed on my chest].
My uncle is a photographer, as well. From the beginning, he's helped me out in so many ways: especially in terms of "getting my feet on the ground." Truly, he's been one of my biggest influences in life.
Whenever people ask me "When did you decide that you wanted to be a photographer?" I can't think of a time in which i didn't. It's just always been a set thing; I've never had any doubts. It's what i live and breathe for: a pure passion.
I'm often asked where the name 'Fingers Crossed' came from and how the name came about.
back when i lived in Michigan, I joined a little site called MySpace. I didn't start out using it as a place to promote my photography. Instead, I just used it as a way to stay connected with my friends.
At the time, I was obsessed with Architecture in Helsinki's album entitled [fingers crossed].
It was (and is) the most influential album of my life and that's simply why i chose it as my screen name. At the time i also felt it fitting with the way i was constantly feeling.
I was living in Michigan dreaming and hoping to make it out with my photography...
Soon thereafter, I started doing more shoots with my Close friends. They would post the photos on their MySpace accounts and credit the photos to '[Fingers Crossed]' in order to link the photo back to me, as people knew me by my screen name.
Of course, I continued taking pictures...and the word about [fingers crossed] began to spread.
Thats how my screen name stuck and transcended a social networking site.
Many authors choose a nom de plume; in my case, I'm a photographer who's working under an alias.
The pseudonym chose me as much as I did it.
